ABOUT MUSEUM
Since opening its doors in 2011, the Museum of Glass has presented a variety of top international exhibitions and events, including yearly ancient glass exhibitions and ‘Keep It Glassy’, an exhibition that engages artists and designers from countries such as the USA, UK, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Australia, Mexico, Kenya, Japan and South Korea. These high-end glass designs and glass art pieces transform geographical hurdles and break down cultural barriers to bring cutting-edge ideas and work to the public.
During transformation into the post-industrial era – the city which has a long developed glass manufacturing business took the lead in remodelling these old industrial buildings. The Glassware Factory was turned into the Museum of Glass, with many of its original remnants still visible. The revival demonstrates how art and culture can be fostered from old, and often forgotten industrial landscapes.
